Welcome to Night Vale

There are bizarre things happening in Night Vale but for what purpose? The podcast simply announces odd happenings in sarcastic, over-the-top ways (which can be amusing) but in the end there is no explanation. There are a few laughs from each episode but after at the end I am repeatedly left with the question of "why?" What's the point? Where's it going? I for one, have no idea. Welcome to Night Vale has clever, satirical writing but lacks in character development and story. But judging by the reviews, perhaps I just don't get it.
