free will revisited

Frustrating to me that you and Daniel couldn't seem to break free of your past unpleasantries and talk about things important related to "FW", eg, that the deterministic nature of of our decisions should preclude attacks on and condemnations of "character", which is totally and continuously conditioned, which would go a long way in making clear decisions regarding making society safe from criminals, as well as just getting along more intelligently with others, ourselves included. It seemed that Daniel doggedly refused to treat your points with ANY respect, and that you were timid in trying to get him to be reasonable. You are one of my new-found heroes, Sam, but it struck me that both you and Dan closed your (pseudo-amicable) discussion in a way (making nice) that didn't reflect your real feelings. I feel you two are really still at war.
